REVIEW MAC LIPSTICK VELVET TEDDY SKIN
I think this is a great nude shade for the fair and medium Indian skin tones, however, I do feel that this shade might wash out the sexy-duskier beauties. This lipstick is well pigmented as it’s a matte lipstick, and you do get the color in one swipe, but I generally use two coats of this lipstick. I like to wear this lipstick more in the day, as it looks very natural on my lips, as it’s decently close to my natural lip color as well. In natural light, it gives a softer pinkish toned nude and goes quite well for a toned down, no make up look. When photographed in a flash, it gives a more beige-toned look and sometimes tends to wash out my face. In fact, it looks quite different when I wear it in the day, and when I wear it at night. Although, I don’t think this lipstick can be worn over chapped lips, as because of its color, it’ll really highlight the dryness of one’s lips.Įven though MAC describes this lipstick as deep-tone beige, I feel on my skin (for reference I think I’m a MAC NC 35), it has a light pinkish tinge along with beige. Oh, Yes, I’m a foodie, I think of food all the time! Velvet Teddy is a Matte lipstick, but it’s not very drying and glides on smoothly, unlike let’s say MAC Ruby Woo. Whenever I say the name of this lipstick out loud I always think of a yummy Red Velvet cake. The tones go very well with two of my favorite MAC liners in Coffee and Teddy, and they’re the perfect backdrop to the bright jewel-toned liners I’ve been wearing lately.MAC Claims: MAC describes it as Deep-tone Beige with a matte finish. I’m an NC42! Velvet Teddy: Setting the stage for all jewel-toned linersĪs someone who’s all about that neutral life, I’m all about the Velvet Teddy sub-collection. The lipsticks are $19.50 each, Lipglasses $17.50, Glitters $22, Eyeshadows $17, and Powder Blushes $24 each.

Pretty sure I saw someone actually put Ruby Woo gloss on someone’s lids, WOW. Note to self (and to MAC): It’s very helpful to see artists really pushing the products in different ways. There are some great short videos on the MAC website of the different collections in action. The See Sheer, Velvet Teddy and Ruby Woo ones are available online and at select MAC stores. The Candy Yum Yum, Diva and Heroine color collections are online exclusives. Each of the items riffs on its namesake lipstick color without being identical.

Like, if I’m going to wear a matte beige lipstick like Velvet Teddy, I need to have at least a little shimmer on my eyes to contrast with my lips, and that’s the case with this collection. Subtle variations in the colors, along with different textures and finishes, keeps each of these sets from hitting a monotone note. That will be easy to rectify with the help of these sub-collections. I remember having a convo with a makeup artist once who said that monochromatic looks (where you wear matching eyeshadow, blush and lipstick) are one of the easiest ways to do elegant makeup, and I agree 100%. Like cat eyes and red lips, monochromatic makeup is a classic theme that transcends trends. HMMM!) Velvet Teddy Playing with finish and texture After all, Velvet Teddy, Ruby Woo and Candy Yum Yum have already been released as fragrances. (Side note: Why’d MAC stop there? They should have gone all out with perfume and liner. Six cult-classic MAC Lipsticks ( Velvet Teddy, See Sheer, Ruby Woo, Heroine, Diva and Candy Yum Yum) get the props they so richly deserve in the form of their own sets of matching lipgloss, eyeshadow, blush and glitter inspired by their respective color.
